Oklahoma is emerging as a growing hub for life sciences, fueled by research and innovation at state institutions, public and private partnerships and a $35 million federal investment to support the state’s life science cluster.
The relaunch of Life Science Oklahoma (LSOK), spearheaded by the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, has strengthened support for the life sciences industry through partnerships, education, outreach, networking and publicity.
“Oklahoma is rapidly becoming a key player in the life sciences sector, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our state institutions, public and private partnerships and significant federal investments,” said Director of LSOK Michelle Gregory. “The relaunch of LSOK is a testament to our commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of this vital industry.”
LSOK is advancing with the launch of a new website and newsletter, which provide valuable resources on the life sciences sector, including membership information, upcoming events, the latest news in the industry and much more.
“With the launch of our new website and newsletter, LSOK is poised to provide unparalleled resources and support to our members,” said Gregory. “From networking opportunities to the latest industry news, we are dedicated to empowering life science startups and established companies alike, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.”
Recently, LSOK held a panel discussion titled Power Up Your Life Science Concept & Company: Essential Resources for Growth and Success, aimed at supporting early-stage life science startups.
Panelists Carol Curtis, Ph.D., Co-Founder & CEO of Cadenza Bio; Nicholete Davis, AuD., MBA, Executive Director of OKBioStart; Russell Allen, CEO of BiotechExec; and Tayo Sanders II, Partner & Co-Founder of Arrowpoint Labs, shared insights on common entrepreneurial mistakes and strategies for building a strong business, emphasizing the importance of leadership alongside scientific expertise.
LSOK will participate in the BIO International Convention in Boston from June 16-19, where it will host a pavilion to connect with potential clients from across the world and showcase Oklahoma’s growing life science community to over 20,000 industry leaders who attend the conference annually.
LSOK’s upcoming events:
- March 27: Bio Business Solutions webinar
- April 17: A discussion with LevelX CEO Sam Glassenberg at Innovation Hall, cosponsored by OUHSC and OKBioStart
- July: Speed Networking at City State Oklahoma City
